Eddie Olsen & The Gogo Foundation - a short biography

1996..

A band called "Scoop" releases a minialbum called "Underneath That Dress" to critical acclaim, and receives comparisons to Graham Parker, Ian Hunter, Pogues, the Alarm, and Splodgnessabounds.

1997

"Scoop" plays a few gigs, rehearse a few times, drinks lots of beer, and have a great time doing next to nothing.. manages to get rejected by all the major record companies though..

1998

Band gets tired of the name "Scoop" and decides to rename themselves as Eddie Olsen and The Gogo Foundation. Recruits two new members, Hildegunn Kobbeltveit and Inger Lise Drabløs on vocals, and plays some blistering gigs at venues in Bergen..
Drinks even more beer, and have lots of fun. Start recording songs at Dokken Lyd with Eirik Grønner producing the band.
Gets immensely drunk at a gig during Christmas-time, when Hildegunn is at the hospital with a broken arm and Gogo tries to go on stage, replacing her with enormous amounts of wine and beer.

1999

Gogo Foundation helps producer Eirik Grønner build a recording studio next door from the band's rehearsing room, the new studio is called "Shimmer Recordings", and the band manages to install a door and windows directly from the bands rehearsing room into the studio. Easy access they think, and they're right, they record two songs, "Just Wanna Play", and "You're All I've Got" in a couple of minutes... the rest of the time is spent on drinking beer, and having a good time.

2000

The video to "Just Wanna Play" is made, with limousines and supermodels and lots of beer.. Releaseparty at Garage Rock Club in Bergen, more beer... Gigs also at "Det Akademiske Kvarter", and even more beer...

2001

Bassplayer Kjartan Huldal quits the band to take up rifle-shooting, and new Bassplayer Harald "Skaftet" Midthun is recruited. Gogo records the song "When They're Dead" and have another blistering releaseparty, this time at Garage Rock Club in Bergen, 260 die-hard fans are having the time of their lives. More beer. Website www.gogofoundation.com is launched. Raving reviews everywhere. More beer. Hildegunn quits, and new, sexy choirgirl Solgunn joins the band...

The band consists of:

Eddie Olsen who writes the songs, sings them and plays the guitar...

Torry Brakstad who batters his drums...

Harald "Skaftet" Midthun who plays the bass..

Atle Engelstad who also plays the guitar...

Inger Lise Drabløs and Solgunn Ivana Valstad whom both has a scenographic repertoire far beyond the range of their voices...
